I am a freelance copywriter, business writer and technical writer based
in the Twin Cities, MN. I have wanted to be a writer since the first
grade, when my teacher laughed out loud while reading one of my stories.
Since then, I like to think my writing has gotten more interesting,
clear and compelling….though there is also a chance that it has
gotten less funny.
My writing background is strongly rooted in business and technical writing, as well as in creative writing. I started out writing copy for catalogs at W.W. Grainger. After that, I spent several years as a technical writer for a prominent software company, where I wrote and managed several online help modules and contributed to multiple users’ guides. I’m currently finishing the Master’s program at Hamline University in St. Paul. I’ll graduate this December with a Master’s in Creative Writing and, theoretically, a publishable book.
While the skills required to excel at both technical and creative communication
differ in some ways, I believe the real “magic” happens
when you combine the clear precision of business writing with the fresh,
innovative nature of creative writing. It is this authenticity that
will make your business writing project distinct and effective—whether
it is website content , a direct mailing or a catalog .
I currently live in Andover, Minnesota with my fluffy dog, Marty, my slightly-less-fluffy husband, Andrew, and our toddling son, Dane. I’m a fan of road trips, Diet Coke and bad reality television. And writing. I’m a big fan of writing.
I am committed to working closely with clients. I want to understand your goals and needs and to write accordingly. I'm happy to meet in person or to communicate via email or phone to achieve this goal. If you think you may be interested in my services, call or email to set up a FREE project consultation. I look forward to talking with you!
